Let's face it, people need money to survive. The same goes for our churches. We do not always want to ask for a handout. However, when a group of people come together for a cause, there is excitement and success.
How would we feel if our churches were all run-down? How would people in general feel about our church if it were all run-down?
Thus, church fundraisers.
The following are some ideas:
food and fun...cooking contest, eating contest, 50/50 raffle, bingo, music, and of course...food
hold an auction of donated services and personal skills...something to give and buy
sell tickets for people to attend a talent show where people show off their skills and creativity.
Gift Basket Raffle
a very common fundraiser...create gift baskets of all sorts to raffle
design personalized church tee-shirts to show off your church and sell
there are many cookbook companies out there who will create custom cookbooks to sell...have people from your parish contribute recipes for an added touch
have sponsors pledge any amount of money toward how far one has walked or the while it took
make up some signs to direct traffic to your car wash and set a modest amount or ask for a donation
have a table at a large event or even after a Sunday morning Mass
collect gently used items and sell at a church yard sale
have volunteers give manis and pedis
I hope these ideas have helped you and your church. As mentioned above, the church needs money to survive. You are not being greedy. Many blessings to you.
