I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (I Timothy 2: 1- 4)
Spiritual fasting and prayer offer many spiritual benefits for most people. It is important to deny your carnal nature in order to fulfill the desires of God. What God wills of our lives can be found through fasting and prayer.
Here’s some spiritual benefits for fasting and prayer:
• Fasting leads to greater intimacy with God – It’s a decision to die to your flesh to fulfill the greater things of a mighty God who seeks us.
• We surrender our comfort to gain spiritual clarity – Praying through a fast challenges and sharpens your spiritual discernment allowing you to hear God’s voice.
• Opens our hearts to spiritual revival – It is important to become change agents and intercessors for the broken and hurting during a fast.
• Fasting and prayer breaks satanic strongholds – Praying while fasting positions us victoriously so we can combat spiritual opposition and satanic strongholds.
Trust that God sees and hears your earnest prayer and sacrifice. We gain wisdom and guidance through prayer and fasting. It is important to allow your heart to be revived and refreshed spiritually throughout this spiritual process.
